I cant live without this wonderful extension. But since last Firefox Update Version 61.0.1 this add-on start to open over an over one annoying page with:
""""GroupSpeedDial - auto-reload tab
To enable fully invisible auto-reload you will need Firefox 59 and also visit the page "about:config" and set "extensions.webextensions.tabhide.enabled" to TRUE."""
Already set it to True and also to False, and nothing seams to solve this issue. I do not want auto-reload tabs nor either hide my open tabs. In fact all the tabs are visible however the same tabs are hiding also. Can you help me pleeeeeeease? (^-^)

posted 8 years agoHello,
I've just released new version 9.8 that contains many changes to auto-reload that could fix these issues.
Since Firefox 61, the special config is no longer needed and the tab will be hidden automatically (it will be in the list of hidden tabs).
Regarding that tab - it's used to create thumbnails if you setup Auto-reload and it's used for background reload (which will be soon the default thumbnail generation method). That tab is being opened and closed depending on your setup - by default it will reload up-to 4 dials at a time and then it gets closed. You can alter this behavior in Options page - you can check the "Keep reloading tab opened after reloading" or change "Maximum concurrently loading pages" to much more than 4 if you have many dials scheduled to be reloaded.
Anyway if you have still issues with current 9.8 version, please let me know to my support e-mail!
Thank you for reporting bugs!
Best regards,
Juraj Mäsiar

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14904828, 22 days agoПожалуй самое удобное и управляемое дополнение с диалами в Firefox.
- Rated 4 out of 5by ElektroStudios, a month agoIt is a great extension, however, after closing and reopening the web browser I've experienced that all of my existing settings, dials, thumbnails, etc. were wiped out — completely gone — everything was reset back to the default startup values. Absolutely awful.
The reason for this, after the developer response, I'm not really sure. Apparently it was not an update-related issue. Something strange.
I do not have any "Old Firefox Data" folder on my desktop. I simply closed the browser, reopened it a few minutes later, and everything had already disappeared (this was the only affected browser extension).
Fortunately, I had a "backup.group_speed_dial" recovery file saved, generated by this extension, which allowed me to restore everything — to an older state than I would have liked, but at least I managed to recover almost all of my dials and didn’t have to recreate them manually.
Be very careful and always keep a backup file by exporting all your dials. Because any strange issue could end up wiping out everything, just like it did to me and to other users.Developer response
posted a month agoHello,
That sounds super strange. Note that there was no recent update, last version was released 2 months ago (2.2.2026).
The "Old Firefox Data" would appear only if Firefox was completely reset, but then all your extensions would be gone.
If my extension was still installed, but data were gone, then I would guess something has deleted it's contents.
Did you by any chance used "Clear cookies and site data" on the dials page? :)
Or maybe some external tool like CCleaner?
In any case, it may be worth checking the "History / backups" in the main menu on the dials page.
It may contain more recent backup, more info here:

posted 3 months agoHello,
I know, nobody wants to pay subscription, including me.
The price you pay is in big part a donation to the developer (me).
And as you can see on my Patreon, I'm not exactly rich.
I could get a normal programming job and make about 3 times more, but then I would have no time to work on my many extensions.
And I would rather be poor and useful to ordinary people than be rich and useful to some big corporation. At least that's what I thought when I quit my job 10 years ago. I'm not sure it was a good move anymore...
I'm sorry for the bad news :(

Developer response
posted 3 months agoHello,
Could you write me email and describe what exactly happened?
(admin@fastaddons.com)
The update was released already 10 days ago, it's highly unlikely to be related, also there would be much more reports.
Check if there is "Old Firefox Data" folder on your desktop, it's possible that your Firefox was refreshed.
Also, I've wrote an article that could help you recover your dials:

- Rated 5 out of 5by Desert Catmom, 4 months agoWorks smoothly and has a lot of customization. So far this is the BEST speed-dial add-on I have found. Works well with Firefox. Many thanks to the developer for creating this. I subscribed to the PRO version to help support this work.
- Rated 4 out of 5by pulsar14, 5 months ago"Open Group on Mouse-over" almost useless because reacts too quickly. Time delay should be 3000 max and not 300. If I set groups on multi-rows, mouse movement hovering the groups opens what I don't want to open.
That's why this feature is almost useless. Thank youDeveloper response
posted 5 months agoHello,
Thank you for the feedback.
I'll increase it, but 3 seconds sounds a bit too much :).
I'll fix this in the upcoming version 29.0 which should be out in a near future.

- Rated 5 out of 5by ssdogdu, 6 months agoThe dial dimensions are too large. I gave 4 stars but I would give 5 stars if it was possible to resize dials and adjust how many dials should be in a row.
Edit: Yep, did it! Thanks. Will change to 5 stars of course.Developer response

You can customize the group layout in the "Edit group" window - right click group name or open main menu and click "Edit group".
