About this extension
Just start typing. TypeReady puts your cursor in the first input on the page automatically, so you don't have to reach for the mouse to click the search box, login field, or comment area.
Works in many places
• Pages with cross-origin iframes (embedded forms, checkouts, ads)
• Shadow DOM components (modern web apps, design systems)
• CodeMirror and other custom code editors
• Pop-ups, modals, and overlays. Focuses the visible input first
• Respects tabindex order set by the page
Smart about when to work
• Won't steal keys from dropdowns, menus, listboxes, trees, or grids (ARIA-aware)
• Smart about shortcut-heavy webapps (mail, calendar, chat, code hosting, project management, social, and similar): passes through letter keys the page handles, focuses the search for keys it doesn't
• Won't focus invisible, disabled, or off-screen inputs
• Won't pull focus while you're watching a video, including when you're using a hotkey extension like Video Speed Controller
• Won't override role="application" containers (web IDEs, games)
Supports various input types
text, email, password, search, tel, number, textarea, and contenteditable (rich text fields, comments).
Why it matters
Mouse to keyboard switching (and back) adds up over time - time wasted and wrist strain. Minimizing that strain helps.

Developer Comments: When the user presses a key this searches for the first input element and sets focus there.
