TubeFeed version history - 4 versions

  • Latest version

    Version 0.6.7

    Released May 11, 2026 - 104.1 KB
Works with firefox 140.0 and later
    v0.6.7

    Configurable visibility filter
    • New Settings → General control: "Hide videos without duration for (days)". Defaults to 2 (lowered from the hard-coded 7 in v0.6.6, which was too long given how fast the repair pass usually backfills). Set to 0 to disable the filter entirely and see every fetched video regardless of whether a duration is available. Range 0–30.

    Manual "Refresh all durations" trigger
    • New Settings → Data button: "Refresh all durations". Runs an uncapped duration-repair pass for every video missing one — useful after upgrading from older versions with a backlog. Polite-paced (one request every 250 ms), shows live progress, and aborts cleanly if YouTube's anti-abuse system kicks in. Bypasses the automatic-repair cooldown so you can retry manually after a wait.

    Shared cooldown across contexts
    • The 2-hour anti-abuse cooldown introduced in v0.6.5 now persists in chrome.storage.local, so the automatic post-poll repair and the new manual button share the same flagged-session state. Reloading the extension still works as a manual reset.

    Version 0.6.6

    Released May 11, 2026 - 102.71 KB
Works with firefox 140.0 and later
Videos only appear in the reader once their duration is known

    • New videos are only shown in the reader feed after a duration has been attached. Thumbnails always display their duration badge, no more "no duration" state for freshly-arrived videos.

    • A 7-day grace period prevents a video from being invisible forever if duration extraction fails permanently. After a week, the video appears in the feed regardless.

    • The unread badge mirrors what's visible: hidden videos don't count toward the badge, so the number in the corner always matches what you'll see when you open the reader.

  • Version 0.6.4

    Released May 11, 2026 - 102.36 KB
Works with firefox 140.0 and later
Fixes - video duration on thumbnails

    • Duration badges now appear reliably on every thumbnail. Previously, videos caught by a poll within the first few minutes of upload (before YouTube finalised the duration overlay) could land in the feed without a duration and stay that way permanently. TubeFeed now backfills missing durations after each poll by reading them directly from each video's watch page.

    • The YouTube Data API tier (used when an API key is configured and the channel scrape fails) now requests the duration field. It previously saved videos with no duration at all.

    • All YouTube fetches set Cache-Control: no-store to avoid Firefox serving a stale response that's missing duration data on newly-uploaded videos.

    • Fix works the same whether you're signed in to YouTube or not, the duration repair pass is cookie-less by design.

    Light theme

    • Completed the Light theme coverage. Toolbar icons, search-input focus state, drag handles, the selected-theme highlight, and the Danger Zone outline now render correctly under the Light theme. Hovering toolbar buttons no longer makes their labels disappear.

    Diagnostics

    • Optional "Debug logging" toggle on the Data tab in Settings. When enabled, the service-worker console (about:debugging → TubeFeed → Inspect) shows per-channel fetch tier, duration coverage, and per-video diagnostics for missed extractions. Off by default.

    TubeFeed Changelog

    v0.6.2

    Diagnostic — duration extraction visibility
    • Adds a one-line console log per channel scrape showing how many videos had a duration extracted, to help diagnose why duration isn't appearing on thumbnails for some channels. Visible in the service worker console (about:debugging → TubeFeed → Inspect). No behavioural changes.
